Do you know of a grill?

We are always looking for new grills to try. We check google regularly, but we know that not every place is on there. If you know of a grill, please let us know about it! Just reply here with the city and address (or cross streets, or some kind of directions to it so we can find it) and we'll do our best to get there!

Thanks!

Shang Hai Mongolian Grill in Puyallup

13105 Meridian E
Puyallup, WA
(253) 770-2668‎

Our first impression of Shang Hai Mongolian Grill was that it had a warm, clean and welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted promptly, and asked if we needed instructions. After packing our bowls, we sat down to warm tea, with pots (very important to Kat) and ice water, egg drop soup, egg rolls and rice. And a whole bottle of HOISON SAUCE, NO ASKING!!!! (Hoisin sauce crucial to any grill experience)

The egg drop soup was very bland. It tasted as though and egg as cracked into tepid water. The rice was too peppery and the wraps, (available on request) were NOT spongy. They were nowhere near as dry as others, and there was no extra charge for them. As for the grill selection, we are sad to report there was no spinach :( They did have lamb, shiitake mushrooms as well as regular, and all the usual suspects. Chef sauce and Mongolian bbq sauce highly recommended.

Overall, the experience was positive. Nice staff, very clean restaurant, NO RATS!!! Lunch for two was just shy of $23.00, with a 25% tip. We would grill again, giving 4 out of 5 bowls.

Golden Grill Mongolian BBQ in Silverdale

9469 Silverdale Way NW
Silverdale, WA
(360) 692-0708‎

The service was fine at first, Our waitress was kind and accommodating. The food was only so-so. The selection of food available to grill was a bit dismal, no tofu and a lack of veggie selection. The Grill Master could only cook one plate at a time (as opposed to the 12ish plates we've seen some cook at once). This was OK since there were only a couple of us eating grill, but I could see this being a huge problem if there was a large group. They did have tea pots and good sauce, that was pretty much the only good thing food wise. The wraps were the hard crust tortilla type (and they charged 30 cents each for them, unheard of!). We each ordered a drink from the bar, Bahama Mama's to be specific and they were pretty horrible (and cost $9.50 each).

The REAL issues started after we paid our bill and were sitting talking getting ready to leave. Laura saw a HUGE rat (it was bigger than her shoe not including the tail) run by our table!! She told Kat it was time to go, NOW!! and she asked what was wrong, Laura told her about the rat and so we got up to leave and we both saw it again! Laura screamed and shouted that someone who works there needed to come out now (it was about 10:15 pm, everyone was in the back or the bar). Someone came out and asked what was wrong and we told them. They said they know about the rats and there's nothing they can do about them. Then the bartender came out and was VERY hostile towards us because we were upset and we saw another rat (different color and larger than the first one). The bartender lady kept saying that the health department knows about the rats. At one point, Kat said that at least the alcohol we drank would kill anything the rats might have given us, the bartender responded with "well, maybe I was playing with the rats before I made your drinks, you don't know what I did to them". She also accused us of being too drunk to know what we saw and that she, "made our drinks and knows how strong they were". At one point, our waitress offered us $5 as an apology (from our $50 + tip bill) for the rats, but we denied it stating they were insulting us. While we know that rats happen sometimes (Kat has worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years), we also know that the customer service here was severely lacking and we will not be going back. Ever.

Just to let you know, we have contacted the local health department who let us know there was another rodent complaint for this place from July of this year and they are looking into it. We also lodged a complaint with the BBB, they have until today to respond.

Riverside Mongolian Grill

Location: 725 River Rd
Puyallup, WA 98371
(253) 864-0323

Prices: Lunch: $7.49
Dinner: $9.99
kids: by age
We paid $29.24 plus a tip for 2 grown ups, 2 3 year olds and a five year old.

Proteins available: chicken, beef, pork, tofu, squid, cod fish. Dinner only: prawns, lamb, crab flake.

Veggie selection: great!

Noodles: Yakisoba, another yellowish noodle, green veggie noodles and rice noodles.

Sauce: tons of choices. All the usual suspects and then some on the sauce bar. Lots of post grill sauce too, all serve yourself.

Other: NO WRAPPERS!?!?! :(
Rice available after you go through the line.
Gyoza and Bulgogi and on Fridays chicken wings, all server yourself/all you can eat.
Soft serve is usually available as well, but they didn't make any today.

We were feeling brave and took 3 of our kids out for some lunch grill. The prices here were great, all 5 of us ate for the price we usually pay for just 2 adults. The restaurant is clean, the service was great, and the music was fun! They even put up with the kid shenanigans.

Our main complaints are the lack of wrappers and no tea pot, meaning waiting for refills, but the wait was not too bad, Kat just likes tea pots and small cups. The kids were also bummed about no ice cream.

Our food was all cooked to perfection, not dry or burnt. The food on the bar was all fresh and stocked, they were very prompt with re-stocking. The sauces were a little more potent and yummy than some other places, so we didn't have to use a ton of it like some places. Overall this place is a great grill and we would totally eat there again! We give it a 4.5 out of 5 bowls!

*Kat wants to express her disappointment about no wrappers. There is no excuse for no wrappers. If they had wrappers this would be the best grill evar!!

After eating the kids had to run over to the merry go round in front of Kmart

Full of grill!!

Mongolian Grill in Lakewood

Located at:
1901 S 72nd St
Tacoma, WA 98408-1200
Just off of I-5

This grill is what inspired us to start this blog. The noodles were on the dry side and there were no mushrooms on the bar, this made us sad pandas :( The wrappers were also a let down, more like dry tortillas than the wrapper you expect at a Mongolian Grill. The sauce selection was also lacking. There was also no Hoisin sauce on the table, you had to ask for it and then you get a little ramekin of it. We like sauce.

The service was fantastic, very prompt with drink and wrap refills, but the food quality makes us not want to go back.

We give this place 1.5 out of 5 bowls

First entry!

Hello! This will be a blog by Kat and Laura about our encounters with Mongolian Grills. We love them and like to keep track of where to go again and where to avoid!
